My office is located at 725 Washington Street, Suite 301, Oakland, between 6th and 7th Streets, one block west of Broadway.
If you are traveling south on Interstate 980, take the 11th and 12th Street exit; proceed straight to 7th Street and turn left; continue to Washington Street and turn left; and my office will be in the second building on the left. If you are traveling south on Interstate 880 (the Nimitz Freeway, from San Francisco or Berkeley), take the Downtown Oakland/Broadway exit; proceed straight one block to 7th Street and turn right; continue to Washington Street and turn left; and my office will be in the second building on the left. If you are traveling north on Interstate 880 (the Nimitz Freeway), take the Broadway exit; proceed straight one block to Washington Street and turn right; continue one block past 7th Street; and my office will be in the second building on the left.
Street parking in the neighborhood is metered, fairly pricey, and limited to two hours. There are several parking lots in the neighborhood, including lots at 8th and Washington Streets, and 8th and Clay Streets. Probably the best place to park, with reasonable rates, is in the public garage for the superior court and county jail, located on the south side of 7th Street between Jefferson and Clay Streets. This is about two blocks from my office.
If you are taking BART, get off at the 12th Street/City Center Station. Walk south on Broadway about five blocks to 7th Street. Turn right, go one block, cross Washington Street, and turn left. My office will be in the second building on the right. Follow these same directions from Broadway if you arrive by bus--AC Transit--or by Amtrak stopping at the station near the foot of Broadway and Jack London Square, a few blocks distant.
My office is on the second floor. Look for the entrance at the center of the building, with a staircase visible through the glass door. Press the "#" key on the intercom for a dial tone, and then dial "211". Your call will ring on my telephone. Let me know that you are downstairs and wish to be let in, because to me the ring will sound just like an outside call. If I do not answer, hang up by pressing and holding the "3" key, press the "#" key again, and dial "300". You will reach my office mate, Tom Miller, or his staff, if they are available.
